Executive Director of Amnesty Ireland Colm O'Gorman has gone on record to say that legislation must be introduced for babies in the womb diagnosed with "severe or fatal foetal impairment". This phrase which is not a medical diagnosis is so open to interpretation that it is extremely important that Mr O'Gorman and Amnesty clarify exactly which diagnoses they are referring to. In the UK a huge proportion of babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome are
aborted every year.
Do we really want Ireland to follow suit and effectively create an unequal society between those perceived as "healthy" and those perceived as "impaired?"
