Government Must Step In and Support Homeless Pregnant Women, says PLC

It has been reported today that there are at least 17 pregnant women who are homeless on the streets of Dublin. This statistic is quite shocking in this day and age. Where is the uproar in the Dáil? Where is the call for women's rights? Where is the call for justice? Where are our politicians on this issue?

Here today we have certain parties who it seems every few months campaign to increase the rights to access abortion in Ireland yet they seem to give so much less attention to pregnant women sleeping rough on our capital's streets. It makes you wonder where some person's motivations lie and why one set of women are less worthy of their concern than others.

This is indeed a very sad state of affairs and the government must act very swiftly to put a halt to this social injustice and get these women into accommodation as soon as possible.
